Presentation: Commercialization of SCiB™Nb Pouch Cell
Abstract:
SCiBTM Nb is a lithium-ion secondary battery that utilizes Niobium Titanium Oxide (NTO) in the anode. It has six excellent features: high energy density with safety, excellent low-temperature performance, high input/output, rapid charging capability, a wide effect SOC range and long life. These six excellent features of the SCiBTMNb are attributed to the material properties of NTO. Toshiba is planning to commercialize the SCiBTMNb pouch cell in spring 2025 (Fig.1). The SCiBTM Nb pouch cell achieves both a high energy density of over 350 Wh/L and the rapid charging to SOC80% within 10 minutes (Fig.2). Consequently, the SCiBTM Nb is expected to improve the usability of electric mobilities and other electric applications. In this presentation, we will provide the technical explanation of the properties of NTO and elaborate on the six excellent features of the SCiBTM Nb.
