Presentation Title: Charged in 60 seconds: SuperBattery for High-Power & Fast-Charging Applications
Abstract:
The rapid development and commercialization of energy storage technologies are primarily driven by the increasing global demand for more efficient and sustainable energy systems. As energy consumption continues to rise, there is a growing need for advanced storage solutions that can manage and stabilize energy supply across multiple sectors. In that frame, the demand for technologies which support the use of high-power, i.e. high currents in short time frames, is a key factor for the introduction of novel approaches. Skeleton Technologies is a leading European producer of Supercapacitors and SuperBattery – a hybrid technology, bridging the gap between Supercapacitors and Lithium-Ion-Batteries. SuperBattery is enabled by advances in material and process technology, providing charge/discharge times of 60s or less and up to 6 kW of Power on the single cell level. In this presentation, we will provide an overview on the high-power energy storage solutions provided by Skeleton Technologies, highlighting SuperBattery technology and use cases.
Bio:
Markus
studied Chemistry at the University of Technology, Dresden, Germany. After
finishing his PhD in the field of Material Science, working mostly with porous
carbons for energy storage, he joined the German materials corporation
“Heraeus”, working on commercializing novel carbon additives for batteries. He
then joined Skeleton Technologies in 2018, initially being responsible for the
material development activities of Skeletons proprietary carbon material
“Curved Graphene”. He then took over the Intellectual Property Activities in
2021, working on protecting Skeleton Technologies technology with IP assets.
Since the beginning of 2024 he is also responsible for the development of the
SuperBattery Technology and pushing advanced high-power energy storage into the
market.
